Stream Video Recorder (SVR)

Q: Is an SVR the same as an NVR?

Yes—an SVR is a type of network video recorder (NVR). The Alarm.com Stream Video Recorder (ADC-SVR210) records and stores video locally like any NVR, but is designed to work with the Alarm.com platform for remote access and additional features.

Q: What does “on-prem” mean?

On-prem is short for “on-premises”—meaning the recorded video is stored locally at your property, not just in the cloud. With SVR, footage stays on-site, right on the recorder itself.

Q: Why would I want continuous recording?

Continuous recording can help you capture more complete video history, including moments before, during, and after an event. This gives you more context than event-based clips alone.

Q: Do cameras plug into the SVR directly?

Not directly. If using Alarm.com or Third-Party Power Over Ethernet (PoE) cameras, the cameras connect through a PoE switch (sold separately), which then plugs into the SVR210. The SVR210 does not have built-in PoE injectors. Wi-Fi cameras connect through the cloud.
