Battery-powered video doorbells offer maximum placement flexibility because they don’t require wiring to an existing doorbell circuit.

They’re ideal for protecting non-powered entrances like side or back doors and even sheds or detached garages. When wiring is available, the doorbell can receive a trickle charge, eliminating the need for manual recharging.

Yes. The ADC-VDB781B runs on a removable, rechargeable battery and connects over dual-band Wi-Fi—no wiring required.

If you have existing doorbell wiring, you can connect it to keep the battery topped off with trickle charging.

It depends on how much the doorbell gets used—and the weather.

Frequent motion detection, long live streams, and extreme heat or cold drain the battery faster. Light activity and mild conditions help it last longer.

Pop out the battery and charge it via USB-C, or swap in a spare for instant power.

If you want hands-free charging, your Alarm.com service provider can wire the 781B to an existing doorbell circuit for continuous trickle charging

Beyond just alerting you when someone's at the door, the 781B can actively respond.

With Perimeter Guard®, it can sound an audible warning when it detects a person approaching—drawing attention to the camera and deterring trouble before it starts

No hub required. The 781B connects directly to your Wi-Fi and works with Alarm.com doorbell chimes if you want one.

You will need an Alarm.com subscription through a service provider—same as with all Alarm.com cameras.

The Alarm.com 781B doorbell (ADC-VDB781B) is available exclusively through authorized Alarm.com service providers.
